Custom Shades

Shades are different from other types of window treatments because you can use them on the window in only two ways: up or down. If they are up, most of the window will be exposed, and a lot of light will be filtered into the room. When they are down, nearly all light will be gone from the room because nearly the whole window will be covered. The newer style shades are able see through with floating vanes.  Hunter Douglas has the most extensive list of custom quality shade styles; Hunter Douglas Provenance® Woven Wood Shades, Hunter Douglas Applause® Honeycomb Shades, Hunter Douglas Duette® Honeycomb Shades, Hunter Douglas Silhouette window shades, Vignette® Modern Roman Shades.

Shade Safety
With all window treatments you want to make sure that any cords or strings are tucked up safely away, but this is especially true with shades. When shades are all the way up, the cord that is left dangling at the side is especially long and can become a strangulation hazard in case there are pets or small children in the home. However, special hardware can be purchased to keep these strings tied back, eliminating the risk of harm. Cleats, hooks, weights, cord holders are all for sale.
