Custom and Stock Blinds
Because of their functionality, ease of use, style, and affordability, blinds still remain one of the most popular choices among window treatments today. You may think that once you have chosen blinds for your next window treatment that half the battle is over. But there is a lot to know about blinds before you buy. A warning not to buy cheap low quality blinds that need to be repaired or replaced within a year. Even apartment and rental units should find quality blinds for sale so replacement and repairs are rarely needed. Energy efficient blinds, and green ecologically friendly blinds are always a consideration. Low maintenance and pet/child friendly vertical blinds with wands/batons are very popular for their great value and allergy dust free operation.

Different Types of Blinds
Throughout the years, there have been many different types of blinds. Today they can be categorized into three main types:
- Venetian 2” blinds; wood, aluminium, faux wood, vinyl, cloth
- Vertical Slat blinds; wood, pvc/vinyl, cloth
- Mini blinds; aluminium, wood
Venetian blinds are typically longer blinds that are attached to tilting boards so that they can be placed and arranged in a number of different ways. Slat blinds have many horizontal slats that are attached by strings so that they can be rotated. Mini blinds are much like slat blinds, with the exception that mini blinds are generally sold as standard or stock treatments and therefore cannot be adjusted to a particular window or customized to a customer’s needs.
Materials Used for Blinds
A few different materials can be used for blinds. These are:
- Wood
- Plastic
- Vinyl
- Aluminium
Wood and cloth are by far the most expensive option used in blinds, but also the most beautiful. There are many different types of slat and Venetian blinds that have a wood-like finish but are actually plastic. This can be a great combination for homeowners who want beauty in their blinds, but do not want to pay for the price of wood.
